The Family Violence Crisis Care Advocate (Orange Door Practitioner) is a Full-time position auspiced by Centre Against Violence (CAV) and working in the Ovens Murray Orange Door. The main purpose of the position is to respond to L17’s (Family Violence Referrals) delivering screening and tirage, risk assessment, crisis response, safety planning, targeted interventions and coordination of referrals for victim survivors, children, young people and families experiencing family violence.  The Practitioner will be required to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, inter-Agency team, while managing a complex workload.

Responsible to the Family Violence Team Leader who coordinates and reports to the Family Violence Services Manager.  All staff are ultimately accountable to the CEO and through the CEO to the Board of Management of Centre Against Violence (CAV).

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related discipline.  You will have an understanding of the gendered nature of violence and impacts of trauma across the life course.  You have a sound understanding of the complexities of the service system and a demonstrated ability to provide services that include clinical and risk assessments, therapeutic interventions and advocacy.  You possess exceptional professionalism, accountability and communication including the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders; working collaboratively to make quality decisions.  You have worked a minimum of two years in the human services field, are eligible for registration with peak body ie:  AASW and hold a WWCC and National Police Check.
